Chciałabym dzisiaj przybliżyć Państwu nieco informacji na temat
pracy układu oddechowego, który w znacznym stopniu wpływa na równowagę
kwasowo-zasadową i którego wpływ jest trochę niedoceniany jeśli chodzi
o rolę w powstawaniu pewnych utajonych zaburzeń w organizmie.

Prawidłowy oddech w Tradycyjnej Medycynie Chińskiej odgrywa ważną
dużą rolę. Prawidłowy, odpowiednio głęboki i spokojny oddech jest
istotnym czynnikiem oddziałującym regulująco na układ wegetatywny. We
wszystkich filozofiach dalekowschodnich właśnie prawidłowy oddech jest
jednym z istotnych czynników pomagających przywrócić równowagę
Yin-Yang organizmu. Bardzo ważny jest jednak również wpływ prawidłowej
pracy płuc na metabolizm człowieka, a w szczególności na jego
równowagę kwasowo-zasadową i jonową.

Punktem wyjścia przemyśleń w tym temacie było pytanie: Ile kwasów
i zasad powstaje w organizmie? Jak ich ilość jest regulowana? Jak
wpływa to na stężenia jonów Na+, K+, Ca++, Mg++ i innych? Wszystkie
rozważania ilościowe, które podejmowałam, jednoznacznie zawsze wracały
do jednego związku chemicznego, który w chemii uważany jest za słaby
kwas, jednak dla naszego organizmu, którego kwasowość musi być
utrzymywane w bardzo wąskich, lekko zasadowych granicach, bez przesady
można powiedzieć, że jest to kwas silny. Chodzi o kwas węglowy -
H2CO3, powstający w naszym organizmie z dwutlenku węgla (CO2), którego
olbrzymie ilości powstają w każdej minucie i  na bieżąco są usuwane z
oddechem. Jest wiadomym, że w trakcie spalania pokarmów powstaje CO2.
Rozpatrzmy sytuację bardzo uproszczoną – spalanie 200g tłuszczu, tyle
mniej więcej tego paliwa jest spalane w ciągu doby. Nawet analizując
paliwo dające stosunkowo najmniej CO2, powstaje go w organizmie w
ciągu doby ok. 460g. Powstający CO2 łączy się z wodą dając kwas
węglowy H2CO3. Ok. 95% kwasu węglowego dysocjuje do anionu HCO3- i
jonu wodorowego H+, którego stężenie decyduje o pH krwi I tkanek.   Ilość ta wymienia się w
przybliżeniu 20-krotnie w ciągu doby. Żaden inny związek kwasowy lub
zasadowy występujący w organizmie w większych ilościach nie ulega
wymianie tak szybko jak właśnie dwut.lenek węgla!W normalnych warunkach szybkość oddychania regulowana jest przez
ośrodek oddechowy w mózgu. Wzrost stężenia CO2 zwiększa aktywność
ośrodka i pobudza oddechy, spadek CO2 zmniejsza jego aktywność. Jak
podaje Harper z roku 1983: ”…zmniejszenie wentylacji do 1/4
szybkości prawidłowej wywołuje wzrost CO2 i obniżenie pH z 7.4 (norma)
do 7.0 (skrajna kwasica). Z drugiej strony zwiększając szybkość
wentylacji dwukrotnie, zmniejsza się prężność CO2, co prowadzi do
wzrostu pH do ok. 7.6. (silna zasadowica). Ponieważ wentylację płuc
można zmniejszyć prawie do zera lub zwiększyć ok. 15x, łatwo
zrozumieć, w jakim stopniu zmiany wentylacji mogą wpływać na pH płynów
pozakomórkowych”

Co się dzieje, gdy praca ośrodka oddechowego jest nieprawidłowa,
czyli gdy oddychamy troszeczkę zbyt szybko lub zbyt wolno?

Jeśli oddech jest zbyt wolny, ilość CO2 (a więc także H+ i HCO3-)
nieco wzrasta, organizm się lekko zakwasza. Czujemy się wtedy nieco
ociężale, sennie, jesteśmy zmęczeni. Sytuacja podobna ma miejsce, gdy
przebywamy dłużej w zamkniętym pomieszczeniu w wieloma ludźmi.
Dochodzi wówczas do wzrostu ilości CO2 w powietrzu i odpowiedniego
wzrostu tego związku we krwi. Osoby, które oddychają troszkę zbyt
mało, czują się stale tak, jakby były w dusznym pomieszczeniu, a
wyjście na świeże powietr
Aby przywrócić prawidłowe pH wkraczają do akcji nerki. Mają one
zdolność do wyrzucania nadmiaru jonów H+, bądź zatrzymywania ich,
jeśli ich w organizmie brakuje. Wydolność tego układu jest jednak
znacznie mniejsza, niż wydolność płuc w wydalaniu CO­2. Zadanie nerek
to przede wszystkim usuwanie powstających w organizmie niewielkich
ilości kwasów innych niż kwas węglowy, oraz bieżące wyrównywanie pH
związanego z nieprawidłowym natężeniem wentylacji płuc.ze nie pomaga W przypadku, gdy ośrodek oddechowy pracuje nieznacznie zbyt słabo,
nerki muszą przez cały czas pracować nad przywracaniem prawidłowego
pH.     Z osłabieniem oddechu mamy m. in. do czynienia u osób chrapiących,
a szczególnie, gdy w oddechu pojawiają się dłuższe okresy bezdechu.  Niewielkie osłabienie natężenia oddechu może mieć też miejsce, gdy
np. długo siedzimy w jednej pozycji z mocno wygiętym kręgosłupem
lędźwiowym, tak, że odległość między miednicą a żebrami się mocno
zmniejsza. Brzuch wtedy uciska przeponę i ta nie jest w stanie
odpowiednio nabrać powietrza do płuc pomimo stymulacji ze strony
mózgu. Przy płytkim oddychaniu dochodzi również do zapadnięcia się
części pęcherzyków. Wymiana gazowa nie jest wtedy stuprocentowa, gdyż
krew opływająca pęcherzyki zapadnięte nie oddaje CO2 do powietrza.
Dlatego ważne jest w czasie pracy siedzącej wstać raz na jakiś czas i
wykonać kilka głębszych oddechow.
Co się natomiast dzieje, w przypadku, gdy ośrodek oddechowy
pracuje troszkę zbyt intensywnie i wydalamy zbyt dużo CO2? Organizm
się lekko alkalizuje i nerki znów muszą wyrównać pH, tyle, że w drugą
stronę. Mechanizmów jest kilka, są one podobne jak powyżej tylko
odwrotne. Jednym z mechanizmów jest wydalenie nadmiaru zasad poprzez
wydalenie jonów zasadowych, do których należą  Na+, K+, Ca2+ i Mg2+.
Pierwsze trzy są precyzyjnie regulowane w nerkach niezależnymi
mechanizmami regulacyjnymi, gdyż ich ilość  może się tylko nieznacznie
wahać w organizmie. Jedynie jon magnezowy nie jest tak wymagający pod
tym względem. Dlatego wydaje mi się prawdopodobne, że spośród  tych 4

nerwicą wegetatywną. Stymulacja ośrodka oddechowego przez adrenalinę
jest typowym dostosowaniem się organizmu do sytuacji walki lub
ucieczki, kiedy kwestia dobrego dotlenienia w czasie krótkiego acz
intensywnego wysiłku może decydować o przeżyciu lub śmierci w paszczy
lwa. Typowa neurastenia to sytuacja, w której mamy do czynienia ze
stałym podniesieniem poziomu krążącej adrenaliny, bądź też z
nieadekwatnie częstym lub nasilonym jej wyrzutem w sytuacjach nawet
niewielkiego stresu. Z reguły nie towarzyszy temu wysiłek fizyczny,

What is Potassium Iodide (KI)?

Potassium iodide (also called KI) is a salt of stable (not radioactive) iodine. Stable iodine is an important chemical needed by the body to make thyroid hormones. Most of the stable iodine in our bodies comes from the food we eat. KI is stable iodine in a medicine form. What does KI do?

Following a radiological or nuclear event, radioactive iodine may be released into the air and then be breathed into the lungs. Radioactive iodine may also contaminate the local food supply and get into the body through food or through drink. When radioactive materials get into the body through breathing, eating, or drinking, we say that “internal contamination” has occurred. In the case of internal contamination with radioactive iodine, the thyroid gland quickly absorbs this chemical. Radioactive iodine absorbed by the thyroid can then injure the gland. Because non-radioactive KI acts to block radioactive iodine from being taken into the thyroid gland, it can help protect this gland from injury.

What KI cannot do

Knowing what KI cannot do is also important. KI cannot prevent radioactive iodine from entering the body. KI can protect only the thyroid from radioactive iodine, not other parts of the body. How does KI work?

The thyroid gland cannot tell the difference between stable and radioactive iodine and will absorb both. KI works by blocking radioactive iodine from entering the thyroid. Taking KI may be harmful for some people because of the high levels of iodine in this medicine. You should not take KI if
